breakingnews:

Politico: US Senator Michael Crapo (R-Idaho) was arrested for driving under the influence early Sunday morning in Alexandria, Virginia.

Police said Crapo was seen running a red light and was pulled over, after which he failed field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody without incident.

If you care about clean air & water and the climate, you should be scared of Paul Ryan

Presidential nominee Mitt “the shit” Romney has selected golden boy of the GOP Paul Ryan as his Vice Presidential running mate. Completely ignoring his record on the economy, social issues, government reform, etc. I’m going to tell you why you might not want to vote for this duo on the ticket come November if you care just a little bit about the environment.

  • Paul Ryan voted to deregulate the EPA from monitoring and regulating greenhouse gasses, which are the main contributor to climate change
  • Paul Ryan has voted against tax breaks, credits, and incentives for renewable energy projects
  • Paul Ryan has voted for keeping subsidies for oil & gas exploration
  • Paul Ryan has voted for eliminating the “critical habitat” protection ruling in the Endangered Species Act
  • Paul Ryan has voted against government grants encouraging families to get outdoors and increasing conservation education across America

For a man who supposedly fishes and hunts regularly, he sure the hell isn’t a proper sportsman who cares about protecting wildlife habitat from the threats of climate change and human encroachment.

"I’ve looked at the numbers and (Nicole LeFavour) can win," said Larry Grant as he mapped out the district on the napkin…

The slate is one of the most-robust ever put out by Idaho Democrats. The party recruited more than 90 statehouse candidates and 82 of them will be on the Tuesday, Nov. 6, ballot, representing every district except three: No. 14, which includes Eagle and Star, and Nos. 27 (Mindoka and Cassia counties) and 30 (Bonneville County).

motherjones:

theyoungturks:

GOP strategist Jack Burkman and Mother Jones reporter James West join the Power Panel to determine whether brush fires in Colorado and flooding in Florida should be linked to climate change. “This isn’t an inside the beltway conspiracy,” West says. “The evidence has been mounting for many, many years.” But Burkman says, “Even if it is true — so what? There’s nothing we can do about it anyway.”

Advantage: West.

Typical Republicans. They either say climate change doesn’t exist or they say it does exist yet we can’t do anything about it with a “fuck it” attitude.

Well since it is public record now (thanks Republicans) I’ll tell you that I was one of the few in District 20 to write in James Mace. I’m happy to see he made the ballot for November; we definitely need an alternative to incumbent Chuck Winder (who this year tried to pass a mandated ultrasound-before-abortion bill).

Felt like this was appropriate to post this morning. Some d’oh moments the past few weeks…D’oh! The Idaho State Legislature putting on the breaks on a state mandated law forcing women to have ultrasounds before abortions. The bill looks dead at the moment when Republicans decided that it’d be a bad idea to pass this in a voting year.D’oh! The pink slime debacle. Yes, that is what we feed our children with in school cafeterias and yes that’s what you get when you order chicken nuggets at fast food restaurants.
D’oh! The Obama administration expediting the southern portion of Keystone XL pipeline. After pushing for more scientific and environmental reviews, the administration magically decided that building the gulf section would be okay much to the disgust of environmentalists and the left-wing. They seem to have forgotten about the recent oil spills here in the US and worldwide (Brazil).
D’oh! The Sanford Police Department have been bashed heavily for letting Zimmerman go free in the Trayvon Martin killing. They’ve been receiving a lot of backlash from a strong portion of the US population and even the President.D’oh! The strong push of social conservatism in the GOP. They have done a good job ostracizing a lot of people lately in a voting year and it probably will hurt them in November.
D’oh! Dharun Ravi, former roommate of Tyler Clementi, is probably going to get a hard sentence in jail for privately taping his gay roommate (which lead to Clementi committing suicide). I believe that Ravi doesn’t hate gay people, but he just acted like a stupid young person (like me) and made a terrible mistake.
D’oh! Myself. The way I’ve been acting lately. I’ve said some hurtful things and done some things that I wouldn’t like if somebody did them to me. Feeling like an idiot… That and my job search just keeps on sputtering day after day.

"Rape and incest was used as a reason to oppose this. I would hope that when a woman goes into a physician with a rape issue, that physician will indeed ask her about perhaps her marriage, was this pregnancy caused by normal relations or was it truly caused by rape."

— Idaho State Senator Chuck Winder’s final (disgusting) comments on his bill mandating women to receive ultrasounds before abortion procedures happen. It has passed the Senate and is waiting to be heard in the House Committee.

Easily one of my favorite Idaho State Senators, Nicole LeFavour, will be stepping down from her State post and will be running against Republican incumbent Mike Simpson in Idaho’s 2nd Congressional District. She has been such a positive voice and role model for the Democratic and LGBT minority in Idaho. Unfortunately I do not think she has much of a chance running against one of DC’s most seasoned politicians in Rep. Simpson, but I wish her the best. If she was running the the 1st District I would definitely vote for her!
